Well, you’ve decided to join the triathlon community. Your passionate, perhaps already possessing a reasonable level of fitness, perhaps been involved in other sports in the past. Well, your not going anywhere without a good deal of first equipment. I’ve provided a list of the first equipment you are going to need. Remember, this doesn’t have to cost the world, but it may if you want it to.

Triathlon suits

These come as one or two piece items. They are a snug fit and are made of fast drying fabric, and come with cushioned shorts for the cycle percentage of your event. Altering your clothes more than you must during the event would be a pain, and lose you time. Tri-suits look like they are for the severe athlete, but even as a beginner, they’re going to make your event far fewer hassle. It makes the transitions amidst disciplines far less sophisticated.

Dependent upon where you are going to be swimming, and for how long, a wetsuit is an optional piece of costume. It’ll help you move through the water and provide a good deal of extra buoyancy, also as the further and added warmth element. The temperature of the water, also as the set down rules of the race will likely dictate whether you may wear a wetsuit or not.

Goggles

Whether your swimming event is in a pool or an or in an ocean, goggles will protect your eyes. Get a pair that fit your facial aspects properly, a chap pair is only a few dollars, a good pair not that a great deal more. I got a smashing pair of goggles for around $28, they don’t leak or hurt my head and are extremely adjustable.
The bike

The bike is the most expensive percentage of the triathletes equipment. If you are just begining out, the bike you have in the shed may well suffice. Persons do triathlons on mountain bikes and old road bikes. If you want to get severe, zip down to your local bike store and see whats available. A road bike will surely be preferable when you get into the longer distances. If you do make a purchase, do a little research first, get the bike properly fitted for you. But to begin out, use the one you already have, or borrow from a friend.
Helmet

Get one! ! Don’t ride without it.

Bike accessaries

Once you get a decent road bike, you may look at clip-fewer pedals cycling shoes etc. Cycling gloves and sunglasses will make it all requiring little effort, you may get these as soon as you like.

Running shoes

Get a good, well fitted pair of shoes designed for running. The risk of injuries may be scaled down and you’ll feel requiring little effort. There’s a reasonable bit of debate surrounding running shoes and their real benefits. Read up on that if you are skeptical. I did, and i am.

The following article in this series are going to be about in truth getting stuck into your sport. See you then.
